"The important thing in life is not the triumph but the struggle. The essential thing is not to have conquered but to have fought well." (Baron Pierre de Coubertin, founder of the modern Olympic Games).

Standards are set in different sports to ensure that every athlete has an equal opportunity to perform to the best of his/her ability. During competition, student athletes are challenged to follow the rules and standards of fair play. According to Yeasalis (1998), a student athlete is cheating when he or she intentionally uses illegal drugs to gain a competitive advantage.
