Horseracing Integrity and Welfare Unit (HIWU) Senior Product Manager

Position Focus: The Senior Product Manager is responsible for leading the development and launch of innovative products that solve customer problems and create value for the Horseracing Integrity & Welfare Unit (HIWU), a division of Drug Free Sport International/International Doping Tests & Management (DFSI-IDTM). They collaborate with cross-functional teams, conduct user research, define product vision and strategy, prioritize features, and oversee the product lifecycle.  The person in this role will also be responsible for reviewing current processes and procedures to seek areas for future improvement and how the products can be leveraged as a collaborative service across departments.

Essentials skills and qualifications include but not limited to:

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in business administration, computer science or related
  • 6+ years of product management experience, with at least two years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience as a Product Manager or Product Owner for both iOS applications and web-based user interfaces with a track record of successful project deliveries.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to document complex business processes clearly and
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including effectively gather requirements and convey vision of product.
  • Proficient in critical thinking and problem-solving, with a proactive approach in identifying and addressing
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire, lead, guide and coordinate cross-functional teams to achieve
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and with both internal and outside development teams.
  • Possesses a deep commitment to understanding and meeting customer needs.
  • Demonstrated abilities to foster creative thinking and the ability to drive innovation within the product space.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks
  • Self-motivated, proactive and collaborative, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Knowledge or experience of Laboratory Information System and/or Case Management System.
  • Experience with building BI dashboards and other reports.
  • Experience building the product team infrastructure (process and tools).
  • Exposure to UI and UX best practices.
  • Knowledge or experience in horse racing anti-doping and medication control.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of HIWU’s business goals, objectives and
  • Collaborate with HIWU team members and stakeholders to document end-to-end business processes, identifying areas for improvement and streamlining.
  • Translate HIWU’s vision and strategies into clear, actionable plans and tasks for the development team(s).
  • Define and execute a product strategy and vision including a multi-year plan by quarter.
  • Collaborate with third party development partners and other stakeholders to define product requirements and specifications.
  • Plan and execute product launches including beta testing, feedback collection, documentation and training.
  • Prioritize features, enhancements and bug fixes based on user feedback, industry demand and business objectives.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between product management and other departments (e.g., Ops, Support, IT, Marketing), fostering a collaborative and productive working environment.
  • Establish and manage a process to conduct user research, market analysis and competitive benchmarking to identify user needs and opportunities.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of user needs, behaviors and pain points through direct interaction and feedback.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure product success and inform decision-making.
  • Analyze product performance data and user feedback to identify areas for improvement and drive continuous improvement.
  • Prepare and present regular updates on product status, performance, and strategic initiatives to senior leadership.
  • Lead, guide, coordinate and facilitate communication meetings and requirements prioritization to ensure smooth collaboration among teams and stakeholders.
