This presentation will define the current dietary supplement regulations, the basic components of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and the common issues facing dietary supplement manufacturers. This information will help athletic trainers, dietitians, and sport administrators make informed decisions regarding dietary supplements and the education they provide to their athletes.

 

At the end of this presentation, attendees will be better able to:

1. Define the current FDA regulations for dietary supplements.
2. Define the basic components of GMPs (good manufacturing practices).
3. Identify the common hurdles or issues facing supplement manufacturers.

Guest Speaker: Lisa Glymph Lattimore, Senior Global Regulatory and Compliance Technical Manager, NSF International

Lisa Glymph Lattimore has over 25 years of industry experience in quality assurance with strong expertise across high-risk industries including supplements, food and beverage, and pharmaceuticals. She oversees the technical aspects of NSF’s Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) supply chain registration programs to ensure NSF certifications are technically sound and supported. Lisa earned her Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from Syracuse University, a Master of Science in food engineering from Cornell University and an MBA from The College of William & Mary. Prior to joining NSF, she developed, implemented and guided strategic operations in quality management (cGMPs), food safety (HACCP) and regulatory affairs.
