J.D. Matheus, MA
Vice President of Professional Sport
J.D. leads all facets of the professional sport drug testing department which include scheduling, education and finance for Drug Free Sport International (DFSI) as the Vice President of Professional Sport. Having been a golf teaching professional and a front-office employee with Major League Baseball’s Houston Astros, his experience offers an advantaged perspective into the challenges that both sports organizational leaders and athletes face when engaging with this facet of sports business. J.D. joined DFSI in 2005, after spending two years with the Astros working in foreign operations, player development, marketing, and as a liaison to Latin American academies. His professional duties include a majority of clients in the Western Hemisphere and the company’s international growth, while also being actively engaged in Drug Free Sport’s educational outreach to athletes on client drug testing programs. Fluent in both English and Spanish, J.D. possesses a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology/Sports Administration from the University of Houston and a master’s degree in Sport Psychology from John F. Kennedy University.
